My goal as a DJ is simple…entertain. I try to create an environment for people to come out and have fun and maybe give them an opportunity to get away from the craziness that is life. I have had people tell me on more than one occasion how coming out to events and dancing helps them cope with things in their lives. As much as I love to entertain people, the people also entertain me. You never know what is going to happen and who you will meet – which is pretty much true for all my events because I am literally meeting new people almost every week.
I look forward to many more line dance events in the future. I am always meeting new people who are starting their line dance journey with me, and it is exciting to see people grow in their abilities on the dance floor. There are people that I have taught for the past 5 years and I love to see how much they have learned. I too am still learning. It seems like new dances are being choreographed every day so it is a constant challenge to keep up… new artists, new songs, new dances so keep practicing and I’ll see ya on the dance floor!
Before DJ Dan Line Dance – The Early Years
I grew up in Lansdale, PA with a friend who was a DJ and I enjoyed seeing him do something that made people happy. Many years later I had the opportunity to work with the Audio/Visual Department in my church. Over time, I learned about the video and music aspects and had the chance to DJ an overnight lock in for our youth group. I started DJing in the Karaoke scene with Dan Leidy of Excyte Entertainment around 2001-2002. Working for this company, I also learned about how to do private parties and weddings, etc. There was a brief time when I started a Christian based DJ company called Passion Entertainment. The main idea was to try to get back to my roots of faith based music. Unfortunately, I did not have much luck and stopped that company a few years after starting. Even still, I always had the drive to entertain people which was influenced greatly by one of my favorite performers, Garth Brooks – someone who could play entertaining music, joke around with and engage the crowd and be kind of crazy too! This definitely helped me thrive at all kinds of events – Themed weddings, College hoe down parties, Drag Bingo, strip clubs, music festivals with 20,000 plus people, etc. Fast Forward to 2018 when I had the opportunity to learn from Dave Kim of Marlin Disc Jockey’s and he taught me the world of Line Dancing and helped me become the entertainer I am today. After 4 years with him, we discussed our futures and decided the best course of action would be for me to break off and start my own path and DJ Dan Line Dance was born.
